Teresa Kong is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews International Capital Management and manages the firm’s Asia Strategic Income strategy. Prior to joining Matthews in 2010, she was Head of Emerging Market Investments at Barclays Global Investors, now known as BlackRock, and responsible for managing the firm’s investment strategies in Emerging Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa and Latin America. She developed and managed strategies spanning absolute return, active long-only and exchange-traded funds. In addition to founding the Fixed Income Emerging Markets Group at BlackRock, she was also Senior Portfolio Manager and Credit Strategist on the Fixed Income credit team. Previously, Teresa was a Senior Securities Analyst in the High Yield Group with Oppenheimer Funds, and began her career with JP Morgan Securities Inc., where she worked in the Structured Products Group and Latin America Capital Markets Group. She received both a B.A. in Economics and Political Science and an M.A. in International Development Policies from Stanford University. She speaks Cantonese fluently and is conversational in Mandarin.
Robert Horrocks is Chief Investment Officer at Matthews International Capital Management, and a Portfolio Manager. He manages the firm’s Asian Growth and Income strategy and co-manages the Asia Strategic Income strategy. As Chief Investment Officer, Robert oversees the firm’s investment process and investment professionals and sets the research agenda for the investment team. Before joining Matthews in 2008, Robert was Head of Research at Mirae Asset Management in Hong Kong. From 2003 to 2006, Robert served as Chief Investment Officer for Everbright Pramerica in China, establishing its quantitative investment process. He started his career as a Research Analyst with WI Carr Securities in Hong Kong before moving on to spend eight years working in several different Asian jurisdictions for Schroders, including stints as Country General Manager in Taiwan, Deputy Chief Investment Officer in Korea and Designated Chief Investment Officer in Shanghai. Robert earned his PhD in Chinese Economic History from Leeds University in the United Kingdom, and is fluent in Mandarin
Nicolas Robin joined Threadneedle in 2010 and is the Co-Manager of the Threadneedle (Lux) Enhanced Commodities Fund. Nicolas started his career at Barep Asset Management (SG Group) in 2002, helping to set up a Commodity Arbitrage hedge fund desk. He became Co-Manager in 2004 and Lead Manager in 2005, seeing assets rise to US$200 million. The strategy was focused on relative value strategies in commodities and aimed to take advantage of short-term dislocations in commodity forward curves. In 2006 Nicolas joined JPMorgan Chase to run the bank’s commodity index trading book. During his tenure, index assets under management trebled making JPMorgan Chase a leading index dealer. Nicolas holds a BSc in Government and Economics and a MSc in Political Theory from the London School of Economics.
Mike Kerley has been with Henderson Global Investors since 2004 when he joined as a Fund Manager for Pacific Equities. Currently he manages Henderson Far East Income Limited, the Henderson Horizon Asian Dividend Income Fund and also the Henderson Asian Dividend Income Fund. Mike joined Invesco Asset Management in 1985 in their back office operations. He took up the position of Trainee Fund Manager, Asian Equities in 1993; became a Fund Manager, Global Equities in 1994 and Fund Manager, Emerging Market Equities in 1997. Six years later he moved to ISIS Asset Management Limited as Director, Pacific Basin Equities. Mike holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
Is in charge of analyzing Brazil’s external sector. She earned a bachelor degree in Economics from EBEF/FGV, and an academic master’s degree in Economics from EPGE/FGV, in addition to having interned in the Economics Department of Banco BBM.
Alejandro Werner asumió el cargo de director del Departamento del Hemisferio Occidental del Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) en enero de 2013. De nacionalidad mexicana, Werner ha tenido una distinguida trayectoria en el sector público y privado, así como en el mundo académico. Fue subsecretario de Hacienda y Crédito Público de México entre diciembre de 2006 y agosto de 2010, profesor de Economía en el Instituto de Empresa de Madrid, España (de agosto de 2010 a julio de 2011) y titular de banca corporativa y de inversión de BBVA-Bancomer (de agosto de 2011 a fines de 2012). Asimismo, se desempeñó como Director de Estudios Económicos en el Banco de México y docente de ITAM. Tiene a su nombre una multitud de obras. Werner fue designado Joven Líder Mundial por el Foro Económico Mundial en 2007. Se doctoró en el Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts en 1994.
Hayden Briscoe, Director of Asia Pacific Fixed Income, joined AllianceBernstein in August 2009 and is responsible for the Asia Pacific Fixed Income business and for managing global and regionally focused portfolios. He has 20 years of experience in the industry and was previously a senior member of the Fixed Interest team at Schroders Australia, where he was responsible for domestic and global fixed-income funds and served on the multi-asset team. Prior to Schroders, Briscoe spent six years with Colonial First State Investments, managing local and global bond funds, with tactical asset-allocation responsibilities. He spent nine years with Bankers Trust (BT) in investment banking, starting out in the treasury, trading bonds, before becoming a proprietary trader. Briscoe moved to Macquarie for a short time after the BT merger before joining Colonial First State. He holds a BA in economics from the University of New South Wales.
