Edouard Carmignac is the Chairman of Carmignac Gestion, which he founded in 1989. As Chief Investment Officer, he actively participates in defining the funds’ investment strategies. He manages the Carmignac Investissement fund and co-manages Carmignac Patrimoine alongside Frédéric Leroux and Rose Ouahba. After receiving an MBA from Columbia University, Edouard Carmignac began his career in 1972 as an analyst for Blyth Est Dillon in New York before joining Paribas where he was in charge of international financial transactions. In 1976, he was appointed Deputy Manager of Banque de la Société Européenne Financière, responsible for loans to the energy and mining industries. Between 1984 and 1989 he worked as a stockbroker at Hamant-Carmignac.

Haq is Managing Director of LAM, a global consulting company based in Mexico City. He has completed the Emerging Leaders Programme at London Business School.

Phillip Apel is Head of Fixed Income and chairs the Fixed Income Investment Strategy Group (ISG) at Henderson Global Investors. Having been a member of the ISG since its inception in 2005, Phil took on leadership of this group in 2012 with his appointment as Head of Diversified Fixed Income and Rates. He joined Henderson Global Investors in 2005 as Head of Interest Rate Strategy and established the Rates Alpha team to drive the interest rates risk in Henderson’s fixed income portfolios. His career began in 1988 when he started work as an Assistant Fund Manager at Sun Life of Canada. Phillip joined UBS Global Asset Management as a Fund Manager in the fixed income team and became Head of UK Fixed Income and Global Sovereign Strategy as well as a member of the Investment Committee responsible for asset allocation. He graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BA (Hons) in Economics and is a member of the CFA UK.

Prior to joining EFGAM, Mansfield was a senior fund manager at GAM, where he spent five years managing investments in Hong Kong and China, with a fund worth USD $1.5 billion. The GAM Star China Equity Fund, co managed by Mansfield, outperformed the MSCI China Index from August 2007 to April 2012 by 72.1% net of fees. Previously, he assisted in creating Munich Re Asia Capital Management’s first Asian Investment office in 2000 where he ran Singapore and Malaysia local currency balanced portfolios, single country equity funds and co-managed Asian equity portfolios. In 1990, he started his career as an analyst with Hoare Govett before moving on to ING Barings Securities HK Limited two years later. Mansfield holds an MSc in Financial Engineering, an MBA and a BSc in Industrial Engineering.
