The US Market Appears to Have Already Discounted a Cautionary Re-opening Scenario

  1. Investors remain cautious over inflation dampening profit margins and companies’ passing those higher prices to consumers.
  2. Mergers and acquisitions activity remained vibrant in August with $480 billion in announced deals, an increase of 44% compared to 2020. 
  3. The global convertible market bounced back in August with positive returns and an uptick in issuance.  Returns were mostly driven by positive underlying equity performance for the month. The return of issuance was also a positive development after a relatively slow July.
