Hurricane Ian was a terrible tragedy that has touched the hearts of the South Florida community and mobilized thousands of people to help.
“Ian’s devastation on the west coast of Florida cannot leave us indifferent. From Funds Society, and on behalf of the financial industry in South Florida, we want to support Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) once again this year in its work to help those affected by major disasters. This could be our neighborhood,” commented Funds Society’s executive partner and director, Alicia Jiménez de la Riva.
The event will be held on November 9th at 6:30 p.m. (Miami time) at the Rusty Pelican and all proceeds will be donated to GEM, which is raising funds to help cover the needs that Ian’s passage has left in the community.
Last year Funds Society raised more than $75,000 through GEM in aid for the victims of the Surfside landslide, and this year the goal is to raise money for the reconstruction of the hurricane damage.
This event is supported by MFS Investment Management and NinetyOne as Diamond Sponsors. In addition, Franklin Templeton, RedWheel, Thornburg IM, Amundi, IM Global Partners, Bolton Global and BCI Securities are also collaborating in the event as Gold Sponsors. Corporate and individual sponsorship opportunities are still open and we truly hope to engage the key players in the South Florida financial industry to support this effort.
